Health Awareness and Wellbeing Week

10-October-18
Health Awareness and Wellbeing Week

The Home Economics Deptartment ran a 'Happy' Bake Off Competition for any student to enter. Students were required to bring a baked item or a picture of a baked item which made them feel happy and give a reason why they chose the item.

There were many fantastic and delicious entries and a difficult process for the Home Economics teachers, Ms. Geraghty and Ms. Moore in picking a winner. The winner in the Junior category was Ava Davern in 1st Year Robin with her White SWCS cake.

The Senior category had a joint winner in Abby Collinge and Aoife Byrne ( 6th year Sadhbh) who baked their entry 'Sunny Smiles' together. It featured cupcakes iced in yellow and chocolate smiling faces.

A 'Name the famous health promoters' competition was also held. Students could enter by attempting to name as many of the pictured health promoters as possible. The winner who correctly named all 6 correctly was Jane Mc Hugh in 1st year class Dove. The correct answers were 1. The happy pear twins, 2. Bernard Brogan, 3. Neven Maguire, 4. The skin nerd Jennifer Rock and 5. Roz Purcell.

Students also had a treat break on Wednesday morning when sweets, lollipops and bubbles were given out by Transition year students to all classes.
