Class Hestia prepare for Holocaust Memorial Day 2023

Class Hestia prepare for Holocaust Memorial Day 2023

Students from Class Hestia (3rd Year), with support from their History teacher Ms. Mc Hale, planted crocus bulbs today in our Greenhouse, to acknowledge the victims lost to the Holocaust. The girls have studied World War 2 and wanted to remember those lost lives. Using their Maths and Science skills the girls worked out that by planting the bulbs today the flowers would bloom in time for 27th January 2023.

The 27th January marks the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp. Every year on that day Holocaust Memorial Day takes place. The Holocaust Memorial Day remembers the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust, alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution and in subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.

The girls made a poignant moment a happier one through their great teamwork and support for each other. Well done girls!
