St. Wolstan's Community School

Student Council

The Student Council acts as a voice for the students in the school. The Council is appointed each November, with two representatives from each year group. The aim of the Student Council is to work in partnership with the Board of Management, Principal, staff, students and parents for the benefit of the whole school community. They take on board the opinions of the student body and work to achieve new goals for the school community each year. They meet weekly to discuss issues of interest or concern to their year groups, regularly review policies and introduce initiatives such as the Charity Fund Raiser 'Walk a Mile' and the healthy walking lunchtimes on Wednesdays and Fridays in the school.

The Student Council earlier this year visited the Dáil as guests of local T.D. Frank O'Rourke, (pictured) and while in Dublin visited the National Library, with time for lunch in its cafe (pictured). They also undertook an afternoon's Public Speaking training with Mandy from Canavan and Byrne.

The Student Council 2017-2018 are:
Grace Mimnagh (Chairperson), Sarah Lucas (Deputy Chairperson)
Evita Osaigbovo (Secretary), Katie Brazil (5th Year)
Kaitlin O'Connell, Caolann Devaney (Transition Year)
Eimear Arellano, Solat Rahim (3rd Year)
Niamh Barnes (2nd Year)

Very many thanks to the current members for their time and dedication to their duties. The new Student Council will be elected in November 2018.
