2nd YEAR CBA 1 2022/2025

Student Cohort 2022– 2025 (2nd years in 2023/2024).

Arrangements for this cohort remain as per the Framework for Junior Cycle (2015).

· Gaeilge CBA1 is assessed in 3rd Year only

· CSPE and SPHE will be covered over 6 weeks

· Geography, Graphics, English, Wood Technology, Maths, Science, French and History are covered over 3 weeks

· Business Studies is covered over 4 weeks

· Portfolios for Art, Home Economics and Music are completed from January to early May

· SLARs must take place within a month of the completion of the CBA.

Mathematical Investigation: A report may be presented in a wide range of formats. A student will, over a three-week period, follow the problem-solving cycle to investigate a mathematical problem.

Problem-solving cycle: define a problem; decompose it into manageable parts and/or simplify it using appropriate assumptions; translate the problem to mathematics if necessary; engage with the problem and solve it if possible; interpret any findings in the context of the original problem.

Extended Experimental Investigation (EEI): A student will, over a three-week period, formulate a scientific hypothesis, plan and conduct an experimental investigation to test their hypothesis, generate and analyse primary data, and reflect on the process, with support/guidance from the teacher
